Kasar Devi is a place in Almora district of Uttarakhand. This place consists Van Allen radiation belt. There are three places in the world where this belt exists , Kasar Devi in India, Machu Pichu in Peru and Stonehenge in Uk.

I am a solo and a budget traveller, I try to take public transport as much as possible during my trips, I took shared cab for reaching to Kasar Devi from Nainital. I took first shared cab from Nainital to Bhawali which costed me 20 rupees and then I took a shared cab from Bhawali to Almora for 200 rupees. Then I had to take a personal cab to drop me from Almora taxi stand to Gostops Kasar Devi hostel which again costed 200 rupees. This way I reached Gostops Kasar Devi hostel in 420 rupees from Nainitial.

Gostops Kasar Devi is a nice hostel. I got dorm bed within 400 rupees per day. The hostel consisted of two common area , one projector room, and one gaming zone which had foosball table. ( I like playing foosball a lot.) One of the common area is completely amidst the nature, surrounded by forests. The view is just wow from the hostel. I stayed there for around 5 days and enjoyed each and every day of my stay there.

One day I was sitting in the common area around the bonfire with my new friends. There was a small brick wall which separate forests from the common room. We were all chatting, sharing our stories and suddenly one hostel boy came and told us that a leopard is sitting behind the brick wall. Trust me, I was sitting so near to that wall, we all immediately went inside the hostel without making any sound. That was one the most thrilling experience of my life. (There are leopards in Almora, that’s why it’s not safe to go there after 6pm. Every citizen had seen one or two leopards in their life.)

I met many new people there and made a lot of new friends. I hung out with them to many places. One day, We went to Kasar Devi temple at 4AM in the morning to meditate. It was an extremely amazing feeling to visit the temple in Brahma muhurt. The peace and calm of the place was mesmerizing. Meditation in Brahm Muhurt was a serene experience. The views were magical from the temple.

I explored Chitai Golu devta temple, Katarmal sun temple, Nanda Devi temple, Jaageshwar temple along with my fellow travellers. All of these temples are very unique.

In Chitai golu devta temple, one can see bells and letters all around the temple. People write letter to God for their wishes and it is believed that wishes come true in that temple.

Jaageshwar temple is a complex of Shiva temples. There are total 125 Shiva temples which are dated between 7th to 14th century. It’s a very religious place. It is one of the Jyotirlinga as well but that should not be confused with 12 main famous Jyotirlingas.

I had collected many memories on my Kasar Devi trip. Places to must visit while at Kasar devi:

1) Kasar Devi temple

2) Chitai Golu devta temple

3) Jaageshwar temple

4) Katarmal sun temple

5) Nanda Devi temple

6) Baba cafe Kasar devi

This pic was taken at Jaageshwar temple. This is the main Jyotirlinga temple. There are total 125 temples in this area so people can get confused with which one is the main temple.

This pic was taken at Kasar Devi temple Almora. This is the temple where Van Allen radiation belt is present. Many famous people have meditated and found enlightenment here. I myself have felt extreme peace at this place.

This pic was taken at Chitai golu devta temple. One can see all the bells and letters in background of this image. These letters are written by devotee of Golu devta. People write their wishes in letters and then when their wishes comes true then they hang these bells in the temple. It is a custom of this temple. I myself wrote a letter to god there and just waiting to hang the bell the day my wish turn out to be true.

That’s all for now. Thanks for reading.
